WHY SHOULD I SERVICE MY BOILER?
You should service your boiler annually just like you have your car MOT’d. Having a regular boiler service can
Keep your boiler fit and healthy, service it annually
prevent breakdown and ensure your boiler is working optimally. With new boilers, in order to be covered by your manufacturers warranty you must have a service.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SERVICES?
Yes there are different types of services. Some companies use a telegan gas monitor. The probe of the monitor is inserted into the flue. A reading is taken, if the reading is within a certain parameter then the boiler is deemed to be functioning properly. Many Landlords will use this type of servicing, however it is not as beneficial as full service and strip down.
WHAT SHOULD A GOOD FULL SERVICE INCLUDE?
On a full service with GHS (our sister company) and Solved FM the following checks are made.
Gas analyser test
- The Burner, This will be removed properly cleaned and inspected for any damage or wear.
- The Heat Exchanger is inspected and cleaned to prolong its life and ensure it’s efficiency.
- Ignition will be cleaned and spark gap will be checked to ensure the performance is correct.
- Electrics are are cleaned and checked for breaks and signs of wear
- Controls will be tested to ensure they are all working correctly.
- Gas Pipe Work. This will be inspected and tested to insure the pipework is gas tight and at the right pressures.
- Water Leaks. Ensure all pipe work to the boiler and inside of the boiler are water tight.
- Seals / Appliance. Inspected to ensure the boiler remains a room sealed appliance and ensure the safety of all occupants
- Fan, Cleaned and checked to ensure it is working to correct speed with no faults.
- Tightness Test. This test ensure there are no gas leaks from the pipework to the boiler, and that the gas valve is not letting by.
- Flue Termination & Flue Integrity. Check to ensure it is safe, correct and working , so that the boiler is receiving the correct air and the flue is dispersing the products of combustion correctly.
- Combustion test. Carried out to ensure the boiler is working within its parameters, and is both safe and efficient.
- Gas rate. Is measured to make sure the boiler is working efficiently and is not using too much or too little energy.
- Safety devices. These are fully checked to ensure they are working correctly and have not failed, maintaining the safety of you the customer.
