Beat the Chill: Test Your Heating Now and Stay Toasty All Winter!

12th September 2023 By GHS 2 Comments

Why Turning On Your Heating Now Is a Smart MoveGHS

Winter is coming. And as the mercury drops, we all like retreating to our cosy, warm homes. But if you last tested your heating system a while ago, the first cold day might bring an unpleasant surprise. Here’s why it’s wise to turn on your heating system now rather than waiting for the chill to set in.

Spot Issues Early On: Regular maintenance is critical to any appliance’s longevity and efficiency, and your heating system is no exception. Turning it on before you genuinely need it helps you identify potential issues. Maybe the heat doesn’t distribute evenly, or there’s an unusual noise. Catching these problems early on is more accessible and often cheaper than dealing with a full-blown malfunction.

Avoid the Engineer Rush: Imagine this scenario: it’s the first cold day of the year, you switch on your heating, and nothing happens. You’re not alone. Many face the same predicament, and suddenly, there’s a surge in demand for heating engineers. Appointments become scarce, wait times extend, and prices might even surge due to high demand. By testing your system now, you can sidestep this peak season rush.

Ensure Consistent Comfort: It’s not just about avoiding discomfort on the first cold day. Regularly testing and maintaining your heating system ensures your home remains consistently comfortable throughout the season. The last thing you want is intermittent heating during a particularly frosty week.

Cost-Effective Maintenance: Often, small tweaks and minor repairs carried out promptly can prevent more significant, more expensive breakdowns later. Regular check-ups and turning on your heating system in advance give you the advantage of maintaining it cost-effectively.

Safety First: Faulty heating systems, especially gas boilers, can pose serious safety risks, including carbon monoxide leaks. I’m checking your system early to ensure everything is running safely.

Energy Efficiency: A well-maintained heating system runs more efficiently, consuming less energy. This reduces your carbon footprint and results in lower energy bills.

In conclusion, turning on your heating system now resembles a stitch in time-saving nine. It ensures comfort, cost savings, safety, and energy efficiency. So, before the first leaf falls and the temperature drops, switch on your heater and ensure you’re all set for the colder months ahead. Take your time with the first cold day to be left waiting for an engineer.

Its a simple case of test your heating system before the first cold day, otherwise if everyone turns there heating on the same day and there are mass failures, there will be a shortage of engineers to attend and they may have to wait longer than needed for an engineer and parts.
