The Energy price cap has risen last month and they are expected to go up in October and continue to rise
The Increased energy price cap and cost of living crisis means that people are looking for ways to make their heating more efficient. Here are some quick tips that could make a difference…….
- Upgrade the thermostat in your home, advanced room thermostats can help reduce fuel consumption, replacing a standard room thermostat with a directly modulating one could reduce the gas used during the heating season.
- Install TRV Valves, TRV’S monitor the temperature of the air around the radiator and automatically adjust the amount of hot water that enters the radiator, this will make sure that the room doesn’t over heat.
- Zone the Home, creating heating zones inside the home makes sure that rooms are only heated when they are required, instead of the entire property being heated.
- Treat your System at home, Dirt and air have an impact on the efficiency of the heating system. Regular bleeding of your radiators will only go so far, trapped air and dirt force the boiler to work harder to deliver the warmth that is required.
- Insulate your home, home can lose 25 % of heat through an uninsulated roof. Don’t forget to lag tanks, pipes and radiators to reduce heat loss.
- Draught proof your home, gaps in walls and floors, or around doors and windows will let cold air in and will make you feel colder.
- Upgrade your boiler, it may not be the lowest cost option but if your boiler has become inefficient or is starting to need replacement parts it may be worth considering an upgrade.
