Hi I’m Kirsty and I am a HR manager at GHS
I wanted to write a blog about what I keep noticing in regards to jobs and employment.
Covid has really hit some companies hard which has caused so many redundancies. I keep hearing of people looking for work. People that have been in their jobs for many years, apprentices half way through there course and unable to complete their qualification because they no longer have a job. This is such a sad time and a worrying time for many.
So, I was sat here thinking! How can I help?
If you’ve been made redundant (or are at risk), and we’ve worked together at any time in the past, please get in touch and let me know how I can help you.
Can I connect you to a person or company? Can I put good word for you with someone? Can I write a LinkedIn recommendation for you, or endorse you? Could you use a soundboard, brainstorm, or a second pair of eyes? Could you use any help with your CV?
Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help!
Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness it’s a sign of strength.
Build a strong presence on Social media, these platforms are a great way to put yourself out there! (Word of mouth) people will always no somebody who needs help! Linked in is a great platform make sure your profile is up to date and your profile picture is professional.
Acquire new skills, take a look at the job ads in your industry, and see what types of skills employers are hurting for—then go acquire those skills that you don’t yet have under your belt. Gaining in-demand certifications or accreditations has never been easier (or more affordable) thanks to training and education websites that offer courses in a wide range of fields.
Another way to upgrade your skills is to Volunteer, offering your time at your favourite charity lets you give back to others, gain perspective, and meet new people (i.e. expand your network). Plus, showing your charitable side is attractive to prospective employers. And, volunteering can be a positive way to get training in areas your current or past jobs didn’t provide.
Make sure you CV is up to date there are lots of free templates on the web that you can use. Get these printed and post as many to companies you would like to work with!
Remember to stay positive And Keep Smiling ❤️
